Study Holy Scripture

 Introduction

I read a lot and talked with individuals on chat, and I discovered many people lack one thing about the Holy Scriptures because they cannot search the Holy Scriptures themselves. They rely on the word of someone else to guide them in their walk with the Lord.

However, the Scripture teaches we are to study, as did the Noble Bereans showed in the Book of Acts.

Acts 17:11 says,

Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

Many people believe that the supremacy of the Bible has no value. The Bible is the only book tested by time and overwhelmingly remains on top. Traditions come and go, but the Scripture remains stable.

Study

Christ commanded His followers to study and find the truth. Why must we learn the Bible when people like pastors and Sunday School teachers do that for us, and all we need do is attend the service? That learning is a laziness of the highest order.

The simple answer to this question is in the Scripture, as stated below. There is a large denomination out there that does all the study for the individual. With this church group’s mindset, it keeps the people from the truth of Holy Scripture, as it was in the dark ages.

2 Timothy 2:15 says,

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

Hypocrites

Many hypocrites will tell you they believe in God but put the Word of God, the Bible, on the same level as any man’s written works. I just had a chat conversation with such an individual, and throughout our chat, this person kept referring to the recorded works of past church history, not the Scripture, and then told me to read man’s writings before the Bible.

I do not judge the Holy Scripture on what man says, but I am a critic of man’s works based on what God has said in His word. The individual stated, “The Bible has supremacy over NO one, worship God and God alone. It is a text chosen by the Catholic Church; it was part of Catholic’s call Sacred Tradition.” To this person, “Tradition” has supremacy, not the word of God.

I am not saying the Catholic Church is 100% wrong, no, but the Scripture is clear on idolatry, praying for or to the dead for help, indulgences, and many other issues that the Catholics contradict the Scripture.

I am in good company, for even the Reformers did not abide by these same problems as they followed Scripture. Martin Luther, a German professor of theology, tried to change the Catholic Church from the inside but could not. The Catholic Church branded Martin Luther as a criminal and excommunicated him.

Conclusion

Dear people, please do not take the word of anyone about God’s Word unless you know them to be an individual who loves the Lord and would never intentionally hurt or deceive a person with their teaching. However, even if you trust a person, always take the time to search it out for yourself.

When we stand before God the Creator, we cannot say, “Well, this person said this or that.” No, we stand before God on what we have done, not what others have said or done.

The Gospel is a Simple Message

Introduction

One wonders why the Christian community will say those who teach the Gospel must have a Bible school degree. Often, these highly educated individuals will not always quote from Scripture but man’s works.

These educated men often use other works and neglect the Word of God almost altogether. Though these works are by men of God, the Scripture gives life, not men’s writings. Moderation of man’s results shows validity, but not as the primary source: the Bible must remain the critical foundation. I have been in services where the preachers will often quote the same individual to make his point, what happened to Scripture? Education has a high value, but knowledge without wisdom and humility is wrong, even in the Church.

The Church Focus

The Church is God’s people and must focus on the Word. When the Church leaves scriptures for other written works composed by men, they are putting the Church of God at risk, and it will drown in a sea of hopelessness and despair. Remember, the Word of God gives life, not the works of men.

Should Pastors Have a College Degree?

Paul had the Old Testament works to turn to in his study of God’s Word. As we understand, these words written by God’s men represent the Old Testament in the Bible we have today. These guided Paul throughout his life as he wrote to the different Fellowships in the towns and villages he visited on his missionary journey.

Acts 22:3 says,

I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated under Gamaliel, strictly according to the law of our fathers, being zealous for God just as you all are today.

Yes, Paul had an excellent education as he was at the feet of one of the best Jewish teachers of all time, Gamaliel.

Many individuals today in the Church have little understanding that many Apostles had a very cursory education to today’s standard.

These ordinary men, some fishers, a tax collector, and others took the Word of God to the known world and changed it. These individuals not only took the Word; they wrote parts of the New Testament. They trusted God to lead them to teach the simplicity of the Saving Gospel of Life.

1 Corinthians 1:27 says,

But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong.

Education in The Church Today

The Church has so many educated individuals that an ordinary and godly man cannot teach or preach today. I have seen individuals with little to no college but spoke powerfully of the truth of Scripture. However, today they would never attain a pastor or teacher’s position because of a lack of formal education. Even though his doctrine is sound, these individuals may not have an education, cannot preach or teach.

Has experience become old-fashioned with the modern Church? What is the problem? Education is excellent, but it also needs both wisdom and humility. Most people nowadays have a solid foundation of education in America, but many lack common sense.

Paul Came Preaching and Teaching Humbly

1 Corinthians 2:1-5 says,

And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling, and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.

Paul, an educated man, said he was no better than anyone else with God’s Word. He humbly began with the only desire of knowing Jesus Christ. The Church seems to know what others say about their written works more than the Scripture. Paul did NOT want our faith to rest on man, ‘one’s faith should not rest, on the wisdom of men,’ but in God. When Paul came to Berea, he finds these Bereans more noble-minded.

Acts 17:11 says,

Now, these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the Word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

The Bereans used the Scripture to find the truth, not the works of other men. What happened to Sola Scriptura? Knowing what is in the Bible and practicing its precepts are more significant than man’s results.

The Church Concerned with Appearance

The Church in America today has become overly concerned with its physical appearances, then with the truth. Their concerns seem to follow the path of having many possessions and wealth by saying that God is blessing them (e.g., Buildings, land, large bank accounts, etc.). The supreme sermon ever spoken and heard was on the hillside given by Jesus Christ, and called, ‘The Sermon on the Mount.’ There was no fancy building or seats or even a restroom. No, the Church today becomes overly concerned with its looks and only talks about the lost sinner in faraway lands and cannot see the person next door.

This way of life may seem innocent to the masses, but it destroys the Church from within, with a selfish attitude. This attitude may come from the pulpit in the “health and wealth Gospel” preached today in the States.

These fellowships lack the understanding of humility and selflessness. These fellowships will only look for a pastor with a master’s degree or better to fill the pulpit; this idea is absurd. Where are the pastors who are like Peter? One should always remember formal education is excellent, but only a few Apostles were fortunate enough to have one.

One Pressing Problems in the Church Today

One of the significant issues in the Church today is allowing women to teach and preach to adult men. This idea directly violates God’s Word from Timothy. The authority for preaching or teaching the ‘Simplicity of the Gospel’ belongs to males, not females.

1 Timothy 2:11-14 says,

A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. But I allow no woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. For Adam was first created, and then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived fell into transgression.

The verses in Timothy are abundantly clear. However, men will say it was okay back then, but not today. Yes, some restrictions changed in the New Testament era, such as eating foods. Change is nice, but not the compromising of God’s Holy Word. Many women can preach or teach, but they do not have the authority from the Word of God. When a woman preaches or teaches an adult man, they disobey the Word of God, and that is an offense!

Hebrews 13:8 says,

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

If God inspires Scripture, then this quoted above is valid for today. Yes, Timothy learned the Word of God from his mother and grandmother (Old Testament). However, that training only lasted until he became a man.

Women must raise their children in fear of the Lord. But they still want more. Women often forget that Satan deceived the woman and not the man, and this might be why the Scripture does not allow women to Preach or teach over men.

1 Timothy 2:14 says,

And it was not Adam deceived, but the woman being deceived fell into transgression.

Conclusion

The Simplicity of the Gospel has not failed and will not fail. However, man could not obey. Because of the Church’s weakness, lazy men, it delegated this preaching and teaching the simplicity of the Gospel responsibility to women ignoring Scripture. Men have remained silent and neglected their duty, and wonder what is happening throughout the country and the world.

Many individuals will reason, they do not possess the training to preach or teach and hand it over to women to do the work. Those men with the ability should train those lacking in understanding God’s Word so they can take over when the elderly pass from this world to be with God. The Church has forgotten that Jesus’ apostles were simple laborers, not educated men with Ph.D.

Matthew 10:7-8 says,

And as you go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

Jesus talked about the reception of the Gospel message, saying I freely gave it.

There is an individual I know had no Bible until I had given her one. She believed an influential person ruled all the universe but did not understand this person. As she read the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit opened her eyes to the simplicity of its teaching, and she embraced it happily. This individual has a cursory education; however, she understood God’s Word. When I say little education, I mean only an 8th-grade education.

What happened in America? Why has the Church failed to stem-the-tide of corruption? Where is the Army of God? Has it retreated, running like a coward in the enemy’s face? We have a simple message to get out, but many seem wrapped up in themselves to care about others.

Farming the Oldest Profession

Introduction

Have you ever stopped to think about where all those vegetables come from you select with ease at the market? How about the hands that pull those carrots, potatoes, and many other vegetables from the ground, vines, or trees?

These are the farmers, the ones who work all day long in the burning sun so we can sit down at the table in the evening and have a delightful meal.

Yet many articles on the Internet say prostitution is the oldest profession on earth. One will find over fourteen million hits saying prostitution is number one by typing it into the search field.

Individuals who subscribe to this have little to no biblical knowledge. As God communicated this early in Genesis, the truth is the oldest profession is agriculture, farming. A look at who was the first farmer is our aim in this article.

What is the Real Oldest Profession?

According to Scripture, the oldest profession is the farmer, not the prostitute, for many would try to have you accept this prostitution as truth when they lie. The first farmer was God Himself as He planted the first garden in Eden, then God put Adam in the garden to care for it. Adam now becomes the first human farmer managing for and growing his food.

Genesis 2:8 says,

The LORD God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed.

While Adam and Eve were in the garden, there was no sin in the world, so the practice of prostitution could not be the oldest profession on earth.

After Sin Entered

Before prostitution could even take root, there had to be a population of people, and that took time. Adam and Eve would have many children first. Then for them to grow to adulthood, one can say it was a free-for-all. No one can say when prostitution started. However, perhaps it was the number-one factor in the destruction of the moral values of humanity.

Prostitution falls under the category in Scripture as adultery or fornication. They are the same and committed by the prostitute. A prostitute is an immoral person, whether it is a man or a woman.

The Dirt Farmer

The next time you see a farmer and think he is on the bottom rung of the social ladder, stop, think again. Remember, God was the first farmer, and God honored this profession by making it the first job for a man to do. There is no sin in being a farmer if your attitude is correct before God.

Genesis 2:15 says,

Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.

If we look at it with today's eyes, the first job was Agriculture.

Genesis 9:20 says,

Then Noah began farming and planted a vineyard.

After the great flood of Noah's time, he farmed by planting a vineyard.

Conclusion

Farmers deserve our respect and thanks; remember they provide food for us. Farming is a hot, dirty job, and we go to the market, grab what we need off the shelf, and then go home. Be thankful for the farmer whom God has provided for us.

The Excellency of Love

 Introduction

We will look at “Love” and see how many people attempt to interpret 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, as it lacks proper understanding by many. I hope after reading this article, one will understand these verses.

Many say I love, but I am weak in kindness and other areas. However, from this study, one can hope to see the true meaning of “Love.” For this, love comes from God, and since it comes from God, all its attributes show unification into one entity, love.

1 John 4:16 says,

We have come to know and have believed the Love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

If we are in Christ, walking by the Spirit, then we are in God, and God is in us. All these attributes of love are in us as one, under the title of LOVE.

Love

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says,

Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; Love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Many individuals believe each attribute comes from one’s spiritual growth. This concept is far from the truth. Heard among believers by statements such as these, “I am still learning to be patient, but I am getting there.” Satan wants all to believe this, but one must reject this concept. Every attribute of love is present at the moment of salvation as love. It is up to the individual to appropriate them into their lives, all at once.

John13:35 says,

By this, all men will know that you are My disciples if you have a love for one another.

The attributes listed below in Excellence’s love list show love for one neighbor and a true disciple of God.

At salvation, our life becomes filled with the Spirit of God. Since now filled with the Spirit, we possess all that one will ever need, and not fragments of Him as some would claim.

Now the question is, are we controlled by the Spirit or the flesh?

Galatians5:16, 25 says,

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

One should see from this list below that love is singular with many resulting attributes.

The Excellence of Love

Love is Patient

Love is Kind

Love is Not Jealous

Love Does Not Brag

Love is Not Arrogant

Love does Not act Unbecomingly

Love Does Not Seek its Way

Love Cannot Be Provoked

Love Does Not Take Revenge

Love Does Not Rejoice in Sin

Love Rejoices in Truth

Love Bears All Things

Love Believes in All Good Things

Love Hopes in All Good Things

Love Will Endure All Things

These attributes under the umbrella of love as one, not individually.

1 Corinthians 13:8 says,

Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away.

With the Spirit’s Fruit, these attributes of love come to us by the same Spirit; if we are walking by and filled with the Spirit, we will have all these Love attributes. Some would have one accept as genuine these unique attributes coming to us piecemeal, and if this was true, why are they all in one sentence.

By far, the most acceptable gift of all is love. Love surpasses everything. Therefore, if love is the greatest gift, then love wraps these attributes. Someone may say they have love in their heart but brag or has jealousy or no kindness; there is no love in their heart.

Conclusion

1 Corinthians 14:1 commands us to “Pursue love,” for, without love, everything we do has no meaning. Can you picture the world we would have if this love rained in all the hearts of humanity? Pure love thinks of the other person first instead of self. Can you picture this, almost a heaven on earth!

The attributes of love defined and appropriated through the Holy Spirit’s power show we are the children of God. God commands us to love.

1 John 4:19 says,

We love because He first loved us.

Sex Change

Introduction

With all the news on the Internet about transgender, it was essential to express the topic’s Biblical view. So, a few questions we must raise, and we will answer according to God’s Word.

Did God make an error in creating individuals on their sex at birth? Do the Scriptures allow an Individual to change their sex? The eternal outcome of these people who changed their sex on the day of judgment will be in the hands of God?

Jesus Never Changes

Hebrews 13:8 says,

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

When God created humanity, it was a male and a female. He lay these plans out before the foundation of the world. One could say they always existed in the mind of God. So, no individual can change their sex just because they dislike who they are.

The Sex Change

A surgeon may perform the sex change on the individual. Yet, no matter what happens in surgery, the individual remains the same as at birth. The male stays male, and the female stays female. Surgery cannot change what God made, no matter what one tries.

The Court

The court may recognize these individuals and even grant them their new status. God, though, will not admit this deceitful, disfiguring action to His creation. When God created Male and Female, His work was perfect in every way.

Genesis 1:31 says,

God saw all that He had made, and behold; it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

So, every male and every female whom God made were flawless and needed no change. Satan is influencing a sex change in his effort to destroy what God called “very good.”

Given Over to their Lust

Romans 1:24-28 says,

Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper.

These individuals in their sex change have slapped God in the face by saying God made junk. They have set up for themselves a homosexual lifestyle and now will receive the penalty for their error.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 says,

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

With this sex changed, the individual has now become a homosexual, plain-and-simple, before God. If they do not seek forgiveness and stop what they are doing, hell will be their eternal home.

God Did Not Make a Mistake

Genesis 1:31 says,

God saw all that He had made, and behold; it was very good.

God did not create mistakes when He created the man and the woman. When God completed His creative work and looked back, He declared all was “very good.” But the man in his infinite stupidity thinks he can improve on what is perfect, how naïve.

Man Created in the Image of God

Genesis 1:27-28 says,

God created man in His image, in the image of God; He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them; and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.

When a person has a sex change, they tell God He made a mistake with them. Sexual relations with individuals with a sex change are now committing a homosexual act. Whether the person knows their partner had a sex change or not, they sin before God and punishable by death in hell if not confessed.

Conclusion

Individuals who change their sex are incapable of reproduction. Transgender, cross-dressing, sex-change, or whatever one calls it, is a sin in the eyes of God who created them, and He will send punishment to them one day.

However, the greatest of all gifts is that God can and will forgive if one were to ask Him.

1 John 1:8-10 says,

If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
